at a news conference in nevada. >> her body was discovered this morning not far from the music festival she attended at lake tahoe community college. she told friends she was headed back to the horizon casino in nevada. we have coverage on the sad story. we begin with katie marzullo in the newsroom. katie? >> the undersheriff walked to the podium and quickly and calmly revealed the heartbreaking news at 8:30 a utility worker found the body about 10 feet from the road over a snowbank. >> we just if the last few moments confirmed identity of alyssa byrne. i have notified her father. the investigation continues at this time. we still do not suspect any foul play. any inquiries as to causef o death will be at a later time by the county sheriff. >> you heard him say they do not suspect foul play and he says her body has no outward sign of trauma, that she was wearing the clothes she was last seen in and her body was not covered and found on a walking route from the concert where she was with her friends back to her hotel a few miles away but the investigators say many people made the walk becaus

's office in nevada which was actually across the state line. it took lake tahoe police reportedly more than a day and a half to notify nevada. we called them this morning and we are waiting to hear what they have to say about it. meantime, alyssa burns has not been seen since shortly before midnight according to friends who were with her. she was in town for a three day music festival which attracts thousands. she disappeared around 11:30 and told her friends she was taking a shuttle back to the resort. she was spotted by guests in the lobby around midnight. she worked as a hostess here in petaluma and was studying to be a paramedic firefighter at the campus. again she is described as 5- foot 3, long hair died black and a fair complexion. we'll see where all of this stands right now with the investigation. live in petaluma, ktvu channel 2 morning news. >>> a court arrangement is set for today accused of hitting and killing 2 innocent people in new year's morning. ktvu channel 2 morning news has obtained this armature video from south vanness on 21st street. david morales caused the deadly

, cold temperatures. in the sierra nevada we are well below zero, about 9 below at the airport this morning. 27 this afternoon with the low 50s along the coast. 58 in los angeles. they will have some wind tonight through tomorrow and that will bring those temperatures up. but everyone really expecting the cooler than average temperatures. we should see about 52, 54 downtown. we are only at 50 today. numbers over in our inland valleys only in the upper 40s. livermore similar to yesterday, 49. 48 in antioch with some low 50s for santa rosa. down by the monterey bay and along the coast, just at about 50 degrees. the winds will be light, though. that will keep it bearable out there. plenty of sunshine. 52 salinas, 50 hollister. then overnight tonight. once again we will see plenty of 20s, upper 20s fremont, could see some mid-40s around oakland, 32 san mateo, and below freezing santa cruz. half moon bay about 34. hers the forecast. a frosty one again tonight and we will look for temperatures to come up maybe two or three degrees tomorrow. then more moderating temperatures tuesday a

and parts of the west coast and southern nevada and parts of the west coast, there is a huge difference in temperatures. santa rosa, a lot of 20s even novato, fairfield, and the airport the only thing holding up is a little bit of a breeze. this flow is and coming right out of the north, northeast and that gives you a sign by the coast it will not be too bad. i don't care how much sun we get, it doesn't feel that warm so very cold in the morning with that east breeze which helps oakland, emoryville, those areas get a benefit from that breeze but most locations are in the lower 50s. discuss is 57, although it is 30 degrees right now. a little warmer into thursday and with your weekend in view, we will have to make a return to the valley and it will warm up coast and bay. >>> keeping an eye on the del stock, del could go private circulating and del is talking with private equity firms about a potential buy out. del has lost 40% since last year's peak and the cost of going private makes sense. it will allow del to restructure without criticism from share holders. >>> it grew by 10% and chi

staying at the horizon casino resort in stateline nevada. it appears byrne chose to walk from the music festival back to the resort.apparently several people at the festival did the same because there was a long line for the shuttle. authorities say her body was found just off this stretch of pioneer trail, between black bart avenue and al tahoe blvd. which means if she was walking back to the resort.she presumably made a wrong turn, because the resort is this way. keep in mind this area is covered with snow right now.and plows created snow banks along pioneer trail. the utility worker noticed her body over a snowbank.about 10 feet off the road. >> catherine: allyssa lived with her parents in petaluma. family members and friends have been stopping at the home throughout the day. reporters about what the family is going through.especially alyssa's mothe, kim. >> obviously, kim is very distraught and the entire family. we did not expect this out, and we're going to deal with it now as best we can. >> i want to think the entire community of the lake tahoe, and the police department for eve

measurement of the snow in the sierra nevada and guess what! yup. 134% of normal. looking good so far. of course, that means nothing of in we completely dry out right now. but so far, so good. lots of snow, lots of water in the high sierra. we are dry though now in the bay area. well, those temperatures are getting cold in spots. 27 degrees right now in napa. 29 in concord. 28 degrees in santa rosa and 30 degrees in livermore. going to see widespread frost around the bay area again this morning. if you are heading out another cold start to the day. afternoon sunshine then the temperatures right around cease until for this time of year. changes by the weekend though. we could see a couple of showers move back in. but for today, high pressure holding on. starting to slide eastward now. we'll see a few high clouds from this weak system making its way into far northern california. other than that we are going to keep things nice and dry. around the state, maybe some showers toward the eureka area but nice and dry into the centra valley. 50s in fresno. 44 lake tahoe. 47 yosemite. 59 monter
